A few recommendations to help you plan your holiday

a tour past the Riedberg chapel to the Schönblick restaurant, then on to the Kupfnerberg and from Uderns /St. Pankraz church back to Ried - a must for a Ried holiday. Duration: about 4 hours

also the opposite direction to Aschau-Emberg. A marvellous view awaits you

from the Tannenalm on the Stummerberg it takes 1.5 hours to reach the ”Gmünd", a magnificent natural paradise, a large plateau in the mountains, full of crocuses in early summer, and later grassland for cattle. Make sure to pack a snack!

from the mountain restaurant Bergrast on the Stummerberg a circular path leads in about 1.5 hours to the Almluft, a nice hike for the whole family

you can run or cycle along the Ziller for as long as you can and take the Zillertal train back; bikes can be returned at every train station

a hike in our ski area near the "Kaltenbacher Schihütte" with its beautiful alpine garden is a must. Make sure to visit the Hubertus chapel, then on to the "Gedrechter" summit, to the "Wetterkreuz", to the "Kristallhütte" (open Thursday - Sunday in summer), and back to the starting point "Schihütte" or "Zirmstadel". It is very interesting to see the skiing area in summer; duration for complete tour: about 4.5 hours

For very good mountaineers: from the hotel up to the "Kaltenbacher Schihütte" or down from there, about 4 hours

Village tour to Uderns, across the bridge to Hart-Haselbach (maybe you want to visit our aunt Rosa at the Gasthof Hamberg for a quick lunch?), back by train from Fügen or on to Stumm, across the footbridge to Kaltenbach and back home (the café Riedl in Stumm has some very good cakes) - a culinary tour, so to speak

from Strass to the pilgrimage church Maria Brettfall, on to the "Rafflhöfe" and to the Rothenburg chapel, and back to Strass

always worth a visit: the Tristenbachalm in the Floitental, for people with bad feet: you can take the car there and walk through the marvellous Floitental in one hour, experienced hikers go to the Steinbockhütte and in about 1.5 hours to the Greizerhütte; also, don't miss the other side valleys, where you will find the Schlegeis reservoir, from where you can go on foot to the Italian border!

a cable car trip to the Hintertux glacier with cave tour (good shoes required, no overweight, and no claustrophopia), with good weather you will be able to see the Grossglocker and the Zugspitze; it does cost about 30 euros, but it is worth it all the same, and on the return trip you can tackle the last leg on foot, across meadows, fields, past forests and water, in about one hour

Your children behaved extremely well on the journey here? Then reward them with a ride on the new summer sledge track, the Arena Coaster in Zell

we often tell our guests, even those with prams, to go to the Schwarzachalm just outside Gerlos, carpark near the road at the restaurant "Kühle Rast", about one hour easy walking, rewarded by a marvellous piece of nature

the Berliner Hütte can be reached from Ginzlinlg in three hours, on a beautiful path - you have to see it

take the Ahorn lift up to the mountain and then continue to the Edelhütte, magnificent panorama

all our outdoor swimming pools invite you to spend a hot summer day in the water, and our new thermal bath in Fügen is a hit on rainy days!

Rafting tours, canyoning, tandem paragliding, boat tours on the Ziller = no problem, everything is possible in the Ziller valley

in the heritage museum in Fügen you can learn how our ancestors worked; on foot it takes about 1.5 hours to Fügen

the long-distance heating plant of the Binder company with the sawmill can be visited every day except Monday - very interesting

no idea what souvenir to bring your loved ones back home? In the "Zillertaler Speckstube" you can buy very tasty bacon

the Silber mine in Schwaz and the open gold mine in Zell, our new open dairy in Mayrhofen und in Fügen, outlet shops (Pfister in Schlitters and Giesswein in Brixlegg - affordable traditional clothing), the Enzianhof on the Gerlosberg with its bacon and sausage production, with the Kramsach lift to the Zireiner lake at 1.800 m altitude, a visit to Tratzberg Castle with a guided tour, the Svarowski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, our regional capital Innsbruck with a stroll through the old town and a visit to the Alpine Zoo, the picturesque little city Rattenberg with its glass artisans, the farmhouse museum in Kramsach, our Zillertal capital Mayrhofen, the Achensee lake with its valleys - i.e. to the Feilalm, to the Pletzach, the Alpbach valley; the Grieralm in the Tux valley; many ski lifts are open and take you to beautiful mountain paths - get a guide map at every bottom station; the new candle shop by the road just outside Ramsau, the lake in the camping area Auffenfeld with its children play paradise and weekly children's party ... these locations are all worth a visit...

with the hiking map you'll get a hiking guide leaflet, from which you can select many beautiful hiking routes, and if you want, you can contact our hiking guide Hans, who introduces our guests to the beauty of the mountains three times a week. The Zillertal mountain road is very much recommended!

Concerts by the traditional music band Ried-Kaltenbach, every Thursday from July video screening in Ried about the valley, its traditions, and many other good films, many of which have received international awards!

on weekends, events by the local associations, and dance evenings in the hotel

Hungry for German history? A 1.5-hour-drive takes you to Prien am Chiemsee/Bavaria, from there you can take the steamer to the "gentlemen's island" and visit the magnificent castle of the "Fairy Tale King" Ludwig II. Continue on the steamer to the "lady's island" and spend the rest of the afternoon there. At about 17 it is time to return to Prien. You will be back in time for dinner, having spent a marvellous day.

...... and then there is the Z-Ticket, which includes all ski lifts, public transport except steam train and rack railway, all outdoor pools, and the observatory Königsleiten. Many leisure facilities offer 10% reductions. The cost: 6 days € 61,50, 9 days € 81.50, 12 days € 101,50, no charge for children if you buy two adult tickets!
